Secondary students have been working on their papier mache calacas for the past two weeks. They started with an introduction of the importance of calacas during Dia de los Muertos, and where they tradition of these playful, fun skeleton sculptures originated.
After, they began to form their own calacas out of foil and tape and covered the forms in a glue paste papier mache. Once the skeletons dried, they began decorating them and bringing them to life with personalities and accessories.
Please enjoy these pictures of their process and final pieces!
