September 30, 2026

Work Session- The Centennial staff joined the Centennial School Board members to share celebrations, ideas, and concerns. Discussion was held on how to improve new teacher support, improve mentorship programs, and create consistency in the Tag-Out, Time-Out, Take-Out process that is currently being used.
Board Meeting- The board members discussed professional growth goals and the Measure of Student Learning, reviewed the quarterly reserve funds spend-down report, and reviewed Policy K: School, Community, Home Relations. The Board suggested there were elements of this policy that would be useful for staff to review for policies they could utilize to promote family engagement in their classrooms. The efforts to have classroom volunteers to support increased involvement was also discussed.
During the Action Section of the meeting, the Board tabled the adoption of the District Performance Framework. This decision was made because the district is completing a request to reconsider using K-2 data as part of the District Performance Framework. The district had such strong growth that the district is only a couple of points away from pausing the accountability clock by moving to Improvement, instead of Priority Improvement. The current proposed District Performance Framework is Year 4 of Priority Improvement. This means the district will need to select a bold improvement pathway. The district has proposed using our Arc of the Year Implementation plan that guides the sprint cycles. Colorado Department of Education has approved the district to use this one plan for the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) and the bold improvement pathway. In addition to selecting a plan, Colorado Department of Education reviewers will be on campus this spring to complete a diagnostic review. The findings will then be reported to the State Board of Education along with the district pathway improvement plan at a special hearing. All of this is placed on hold as the accountability clock pauses if the district is successful with the request to reconsider. As a result, the Board tabled this action item.
The Board approved all other action items, including approval of the Arc of the Year as the district’s UIP Action Plan, the District Accountability Committee leadership and members, and an increase to the school meal prices to keep us in compliance with state Food Program guidelines. The District Accountability Committee members approved include:
Chair: Devin Maestas
Secretary: Maddie Mansheim
Members:
1. Maclovio Gallegos (Community Member Representative)
2. Tiffany Gallegos (Community Member Representative)
3. Crystal Quintana (FSCP Representative)
4. Felizia Rael (PTO/ ECE Representative)
5. Evans Opoku (Certified Staff Representative)
6. Reina Aguilera (Student Representative)
7. Steven Romero
The Board also completed a second and final reading of policy revisions from Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) that include new legislative requirements regarding reporting restraint and seclusion events. Finally, the Board approved DeAnn Arellano's resignation and several new hires, including Ronnie Medina as the attendance clerk, three new substitute teachers (pending Colorado Department of Education Substitute License approval), and Floyd Garcia returns as a substitute bus driver. The district is thrilled to welcome all our new staff to the team.
