Good evening Centennial families, In order to safely return to school to finish our year, we will have students return on different days by grade. Elementary students will come to school in-person on Monday and Tuesday. Their last day will be Tuesday. They will check-in their computers, tablets, and hotspots on Monday. Remote students will check-in their computers, tablets, and hotspots on Wednesday, unless their teacher has set a different day. Middle School and High School students will remain remote on Monday and Tuesday and will return in-person on Wednesday and Thursday. These Secondary students will check-in their computers and hotspots on Wednesday. Remote students will check in their computers and hotspots on Thursday. All library books, classroom books, or other checked out items also need to be returned when students return their technology. Families are responsible for fees or replacement costs for any unreturned, damaged, lost, or stolen computers, tablets, chargers, books, or other materials. Students will all complete a checkout form that will state any missing, damaged, or lost items and the amount owed for that item. Copies of these sheets will be sent home with students. Checkout sheets will be sent home with elementary students on Monday and Secondary students on Wednesday. Fees will be due or a payment plan set-up before the last day of school.

Good morning, Costilla County Public Health informed us that all students and staff who are quarantined for having "close contact" with a positive COVID case while at Centennial last week will end their quarantine period and return to normal activities on Monday, May 24th. Public Health wants to avoid confusion about when students and staff can return to normal activities, so they are making everyone's return date Monday, May 24th whether you were exposed on Monday or Tuesday of last week. Please, reach out if you have any questions.

Good evening, We wanted to share the following message from the Costilla County Public Health: Due to high case rates in our community and the presence of variants across Colorado, the quarantine period for those who have close contact with a positive case is 14 days. Please keep in mind that a negative COVID test prior to the individual's quarantine end date does not release the individual out of quarantine. If you have been contacted about quarantining, please follow this recommendation. Thank you!

Good afternoon Centennial families, We were made aware of a new positive COVID case. This MS student was on campus this week. Public Health has a list of all students who shared classes and had “close contact” with this student. Public Health will contact any students who need to quarantine. Although many of you will not need to quarantine, please, watch for any potential symptoms and consider being tested at the testing event this Saturday at the Centennial parking lot from 12:00-4:00. Thank you.

Good evening Centennial families, Today we learned that two elementary students tested positive for COVID using a rapid test. Public Health has contacted the parents of students in the classes that were potentially exposed. Because of these recent cases, we invite anyone who is concerned about a potential exposure to go to the drive-through testing clinic on Saturday. It will be in the Centennial parking lot from 12:00-4:00. Additionally, all students from the Early Learning Center to 12th grade will continue to be on remote learning next week. We will review the data from the testing event with Public Health and other data from across the county to decide what our next steps will be for the end of the year. Our main goals are to keep our students, staff, and community safe; to keep students learning until the last day of school, and to try to return to safe numbers so that important events, like graduation, can still happen in-person. However, we will not know if in-person events will be possible until we see how far these cases spread. Please, support us in meeting these goals by quarantining if Public Health has asked you to quarantine, joining your Zoom classes and engaging in your coursework, and continuing to follow the safety guidelines like wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing your hands. Thank you.

Good evening Centennial students and families, Today, we worked with Public Health to determine some next steps in order to make smart decisions moving forward. Here are two key steps: Public Health will provide a community testing clinic this Saturday, from 12:00-4:00, in the school parking lot. This will be an opportunity for anyone who is concerned about a potential exposure to be tested. It will also give us some much needed data to decide when we resume in-person learning. The last week of school, Public Health will provide a vaccination clinic on campus to provide Pfizer vaccines for any students 12-18 whose families want them vaccinated. They will also provide Moderna vaccines for parents and staff who are interested. Please, reply to this email if you or one of your children are interested in being vaccinated at this event. I am taking a count of who is interested so that Public Health can request the right amount of vaccines for this event. Please, email kimba.rael@centennialschool.net by Friday if you are interested. We will have more updates and info sent soon about when students will return and when our special events will be rescheduled. Thank you for your patience.

Good evening Centennial Families, As many of you are aware, there was a positive COVID case on campus in the High School yesterday. High School students were placed on remote learning for the remainder of the week as Public Health reached out to all students and staff who were identified as having "close contact" with the student. However, there has been another positive case discovered through a rapid test. This person was on campus today, and, thankfully, had limited contact with others. It appears that both cases are unrelated at this time. This person is being interviewed and any people who had "close contact" with this person are also being contacted by Public Health in order to be quarantined for 14 days.  We have worked with public health to determine the best course of action to keep our students, staff, and community safe. Therefore, the entire district, Early Childhood through High School, will be on remote learning for the remainder of the week. All staff are also asked to work from home. All activities for this week will be rescheduled. This includes the Athletic Banquet, Spring Concert, Preschool Fieldtrip, Senior Night, STARS Peer Mentor Trip, and the Baseball Game this weekend. We will provide more information later this week about further safety measures. Thank you all for your understanding and support, and please, reach out with any questions.

Attention High School Students and Families, This evening, a high school student that was on campus today tested positive for COVID with an at-home rapid COVID test. As a result, all high school students will be on remote learning for the rest of the week. Public Health will be interviewing the student tomorrow to learn more about who all the student had "close contact with." The student will also receive a regular 3-day test to confirm the positive case. Based on the outcome of these two things, public health will determine whether the high school or just individual persons need to quarantine for the full 14-days. In the meantime, please self-quarantine until we learn from public health. Because of this, all district events this week will need to be rescheduled. This includes: Athletic Banquet, Spring Concert, AP Exam, and Senior Night. We will determine when and how these will be rescheduled in the upcoming days and will notify all families as soon as possible. We will do we all we can to reschedule these important events, and we pray that through this quick action we contain any possible exposures to move out of this quarantine period quickly. Thank you for your understanding and support. Please, reach out with any questions.

Good afternoon Centennial Families, Monday, May 3 will be a "Sun" day. Like a snow day, we will have no school. It will be a day for our students and staff to recuperate, recharge, and get out to enjoy some sunshine. Thank you for all you do to make Centennial great, and enjoy this special start to Teacher Appreciation week.
