Take a sneak peek at four of the miniature adobe buildings, created by students Karlina Lovato, Sezzerae Medina, Aaliyah Fresquez, and art teacher Taylor Hubbard, that will soon be on display in the Unearthing Futures exhibition at the Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center that opens on June 28, 2026!
The opening celebration takes place at the Fort Garland Museum on June 28 from 10 AM - 2 PM and is free and open to the public! Come support our students and see the incredible work on display from featured artists Santino Gonzales, Joanna Keane Lopez, and Ronald Rael.
From the Museum:
Presented through a collaboration between the Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center and Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, New Mexico, Unearthing Futures extends beyond the gallery to encompass a network of historic and contemporary adobe structures across the Southwest. These include homes, churches, and community spaces that serve as living archives of memory, labor, and cultural continuity.
As we reflect on 150 years of statehood and 250 years of nationhood, Unearthing Futures offers visitors a timely opportunity to examine histories and cultural practices that predate state and national borders, while fostering meaningful dialogue about our shared future.
Opening Celebration generously supported by Community Foundation of the San Luis Valley and the Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area.
The opening event is free and open to the public, and the exhibition runs through 2027.

This summer will be filled with hands-on activities, games, projects, and opportunities to grow - all while building relationships and making great memories along the way.
After summer school, students also have the opportunity to continue their afternoons at the swim program or the Boys & Girls Club, helping make summer both fun and enriching all day long.
Here’s to a great summer together 💚

Thank you to our school families and community members who came to see the 2026 art show! We had a great turnout last night and all of our students were able to walk through the art show this morning to see their hard work on display.
